Is Brian Michael Bendis about to take over Batman at DC Comics and do his version of Ultimate Batman? The gossip coming out over the Labor Day weekend from a number of sources, is that next summer, leading into 2021, DC Comics is planning to introduce a new black Batman. Perhaps it will be Charles Bullock (Earth-Two) who was last seen interning at Cranston, Grayson and Wayne. He eventually adopted the guise of Blackwing to continue the legacy of Batman, and worked alongside the Huntress. He was last seen in 1983’s Wonder Woman #299, but was erased from existence following Crisis on Infinite Earths. So who is this new Batman? Sources say it will NOT be Duke Thomas, the young man previously teased as taking on the role of Robin and Batman to come. There are a number of other characters in the Batbooks who could be well-placed, aside from Duke, to take the role. Maybe Luke Fox? And then there’s Batwing. Or possibly Black Lightning, who currently works with Batman in The Outsiders book. However, that would merely remove a black hero just to move him elsewhere. Maybe it has to be someone new? An all-new character taking on another version of Batman might be the best way to handle this. What do you think of this news and who do you think they will choose?
